In All Things, Jesus

East Somerset is a vibrant community who passionately believe in the living presence of Jesus. Our purpose is simple yet profound – to bring glory to God by nurturing fully devoted followers of Jesus.

What does it mean to be a "fully devoted follower of Jesus" to us? It's about experiencing a transformative encounter with the gospel, receiving a new identity, and continually growing to reflect the character of Jesus in our daily lives.

At the heart of our journey is the gospel – the incredible narrative of God's reconciliation and redemption of a broken creation and fallen beings to Himself. This extraordinary story unfolds through the life, death, resurrection, and the promise of the future return of Jesus Christ. The gospel is more than news; it's the good news that has the power to change everything.

For us at East Somerset, the gospel isn't just a part of our story; it's the narrative that guides and shapes us. It is our identity, the lens through which we view the world and interact with one another. Our deepest hope and fervent desire are for the gospel to stand resolutely at the center of all that we do.

Join us on this journey where the good news becomes the compass for our lives, transforming and defining us. At East Somerset, we embrace the profound truth that in all things, Jesus is the cornerstone of our existence.

1924 - 2024

East Somerset Baptist Church has been a beacon of hope, faith, and service for over 100 years. Our journey began with a small group of dedicated believers who sought to create a community centered on the Gospel. Today, we stand united as a thriving congregation, proud of our heritage and excited about the future.

Humble Beginnings and Enduring Vision

In the early 1920s, a group of passionate pioneers gathered with a simple but powerful vision: to share God’s love and truth with the local community. From a modest meeting place and with very few resources, these founding members laid the groundwork for what would become a lasting legacy. Their commitment to Bible-based teaching, heartfelt worship, and community care set the tone for generations to come.

"When the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life."

-TITUS 3:4-7
